"I was born in Brazil and did an exchange program in Australia when I was 21 years old. My plans were to go to Australia to learn English and return to Brazil in six months’ time to finish my Law degree. Fortunately, I decided to stay in Australia after I completed my first Australian Internship which changed my life forever.
Following my decision to remain, I went to study a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Queensland for four years. Once again, I felt that because I was a foreigner and had a limited local professional network I needed help to get started with my professional career in Australia as I was about to finish my Commerce degree. I applied for my second internship and this time around I was offered a full time job straight after completion of the internship program which was my goal then.

I went on to work with the same firm for three years and after this initial professional experience I managed to get an amazing job opportunity with Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Australia. I worked for PwC for almost five years and most recently I moved to the UK after twelve years in Australia.

I would recommend the Australian Internships program to anyone who is thinking about this opportunity – the upfront cost has been paid back to me in so many ways (Australian citizenship, eight years of professional experience in Australia, multiple promotions through time, new friends and expanded network of colleagues). It was one of the most important decisions I have ever made – taking the internship program twice – looking back I am so pleased that I did take the program."
