Diana van Woerkom established Australian Internships after many years in education and training with Queensland Government. Diana started her teaching career in Hervey Bay with a new concept in education that recognised the value of both the academic and technical/vocational development of students. She eventually moved into the role of Director of Business Development where much of the training was developed to respond to industry demands. Diana was actively involved international education and this served as a catalyst for the establishment of her own business Australian Internships – the first company in Australia to welcome and support students from over 45 countries. Diana was a founding member of the Australian Internships Industry Association and is an active member. Diana still enjoys meeting the many students and young professionals each year from countries all over the world.

Rebekah joined AI in 2003 while studying Business Management at the University of Queensland. An avid traveler, Rebekah spent two years living and travelling through Latin America and is fluent in Portuguese. Bek’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the internship industry helps her understand the cultural & personal barriers faced by internationals travelling to Australia. She has a strong passion for the industry and believes that internships are a magnificent contribution to an international-oriented career & a great way to diversity the Australian workplace. In 2012, Bek established the Sydney operations; after three years of great success she relocated to the Head Office in late 2015 to take over the National Manager’s role.
Michelle Hay is a professional tourism marketer with over 25 years’ experience working in both domestic and international spheres. With an early career in hospitality that led to a variety of marketing roles, Michelle has held marketing positions within a variety of industry and regional tourism organisational environments, with both the Fraser Coast RTO and leading Fraser Coast tourism operators such as the Fraser Island Company. These roles provided Michelle with the opportunity to work with state, national and international tourism bodies, wholesalers, inbound operators and media.
Michelle has further developed and enhanced her skills while working within the tertiary education sector as a marketing lecturer and Executive Officer during her seven years at the University of Southern Queensland. The latter role focussed on the development and enhancement of international student markets. This aspect of her career afforded Michelle the opportunity to build on her skills as an effective communicator while remaining focussed on her true professional passion – marketing.
A lifelong learner, Michelle holds a Bachelor of Business (Tourism) and is currently completing her Masters in Management (Marketing).

Originally from Switzerland, Sabrina obtained her marketing diploma in 2010 and a year later came to Australia to travel. She has travelled extensively through Europe, America, and Asia and speaks German, Italian, Spanish, French and English. Sabrina understands how difficult it can be to get a job as an international traveling in Australia and the barriers they often get confronted with. She has a passion for travel and people and is happy to answer any questions about the benefits of traveling and interning abroad.
Daniele Leao, originally from Brazil has an under graduate degree in Linguistics and Post graduate degree in Marketing and Integrated Communication. Daniele is passionate about understanding people and their motivations, different cultures and communication styles. Over the past seven years, she worked in an advertising agency, where she developed an in-depth understanding of branding, communication and advertising process in addition to working and studying how people connect with brands. Dani joined the AI team with a vision of helping people pursue an international-oriented career.
Adele is originally from France, however she had the chance to travel to many countries for her studies. After different experiences in Canada, Belgium and the United States she decided to move to Australia. Adele is passionate about travels and truly believes that it is the best way to learn about yourself and also others. Thanks to her international background Adele knows the difficulties and advantages of being an expatriate and she would love to answer any questions that you have about interning in Australia!
Originally from New York, Alyssa moved to Philadelphia where she is attending Drexel University. She is currently completing an internship in Australia to graduate from her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing. Alyssa has gained experience in content and communications working for various companies throughout her studies. In her free time, Alyssa can often be found reading or longboarding throughout the city. She is excited to learn more in this new role and continue to develop her skills in various areas of marketing.
Internship Program Managers
Keli has 7 years’ experience in both recruitment and student placement consulting, specialising in international student placement. Keli lives in Wollongong and has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Communication studies from Wollongong University. Keli loves travelling and fitness and is passionate about internships and student success.
Megan has over six years’ experience as an Internship Program Manager and is passionate about the internship industry. With over 10 years’ experience in Business Development, Megan has forged strong partnerships and ongoing business opportunities within major businesses all over the country. Megan has extensive and diverse client services experience working with international corporations across the nation. With university studies in Psychology and Human Services in addition to a Certificate III in Business Studies, she is well equipped professionally and academically for the role of Internship Program Manager. Megan has also travelled around her home country of Australia, Europe, Asia and various other countries.
Rachael holds a Bachelor of Hotel Management from Griffith University. She has nearly 13 years of experience within the hospitality and hotel industry with the majority of which has been in Human Resources and Recruitment. Rachael is looking forward to assisting international students and graduates to kick start their hospitality careers with an invaluable internship opportunity within Australia.
Sheridan Catt has worked in training, development and recruitment for over 15 years. She has managed major “International Student” programs to assist candidates with their professional career development. Sheridan has also extensive experience working with major corporate accounts including industry sectors Federal, State and Local Government to achieve their specific staffing requirements. She thoroughly enjoys helping students towards their career direction.
Mia has worked in the international development industry for over 17 years. She has worked with donor agencies and a variety of international development and capacity building programs. She is familiar with education industry having worked for Queensland University of Technology for almost 11 years. Mia has extensive experience working with overseas organisations, the public sector and non-government organisations. She has worked on multi-million dollar programs with Clients from the Asia-Pacific region. Her previous roles have ranged from project management, program development, proposal and business development.
Leena holds a Masters in Business Administration from India. After moving to Australia in 2008, she obtained her Management and Marketing Diplomas. Leena has over eleven years of work experience in Business Development, Corporate Account Management, Sales & Marketing Communications and Campaign Management. She has worked with clients from varied industries across Asia pacific region. Leena has sound knowledge of Information Technology & Systems along with Digital Marketing Platforms. She has a good understanding of the barriers expatriates confront in Australia and comes to Australian Internships with a vision of supporting international candidates in their career development.
Internship Program Supervisors
Caroline is a Kiwi! A New Zealand citizen that is. Caroline has a Bachelor of Tourism Management which makes her a great fit as a Hospitality Internship Placement Supervisor. Caroline has truly done it all- from operating rides at a theme park to retail management to working for the New Zealand government. She loves the outdoors, keeping physically fit and most importantly travel. In fact, she lived and worked in the United States. Throughout her time at home and overseas, Caroline has gained invaluable knowledge and experiences that have changed her life forever. She whole-heartedly believes in travel and extends her passion and enthusiasm to all of the interns she supports.
Born and raised in Brisbane, Clare has spent many of her adult years living abroad including The United Kingdom, Italy and Brazil. With six years experience in the ELICOS industry, both as an English Language Teacher and Manager, she has an extensive knowledge of international cultures and the challenges faced when visiting or moving to Australia. Clare is passionate about travel, believing it is one of life’s great teachers. She finds great pleasure in helping others and works hard to ensure our clients have the best possible experience while in Australia.
Katrina is originally from Canada. She has studied abroad in England, Eastern Europe, and Australia so she understands the challenges and exciting experiences interns face. Katrina has a keen interest in different cultural environments and enjoys the diversity of different educational experiences. She has completed her Masters of Teaching degree and Master of Arts (TESOL) degree here in Australia. Katrina worked in the Education sector prior to joining the Australian Internships team; she has also worked in various industries such as hospitality, retail, and administration. She has spent considerable time working with others from diverse backgrounds and these skills and experiences help her to provide significant support to Interns.
Sarah joined Australian Internships in January of 2012 as an Administrative Assistant. She has previously had experience in real estate administration, working as a Receptionist, PA and Property Manager in Hervey Bay. Relocating to northern Brisbane 6 years ago, she worked as a Sales and Marketing Manager in the construction industry. She has most recently been studying at university for her Bachelor of Education (primary). Sarah is a vey enthusiastic and patient individual whose aim is to provide interns with the best possible service. She looks forward to assisting with any needs or inquires interns may have.
Bruna is originally from Brazil and came to Australia in 2011 to learn English, having completed her Business Administration Degree. She has spent most of her career in a customer service and administration roles. She has a passion for working with people and loves helping everyone out. Being an overseas student herself, she knows how challenging and unique this experience is, so she is very excited about helping the interns to have the best time of their lives.
Helena is originally from Sweden and speaks fluent Swedish and English. Helena has a Bachelor of Business and worked as a Consular Assistant at the Swedish Consulate in Brisbane for ten years prior to joining the Australian Internships team. She has extensive experience working with visas and is well equipped to help interns in this regard. Helena has lived in Australia for over 17 years, and previously lived in Sweden, France and USA. Her prior experience as an exchange student makes her accessible and able to identify with our interns. Helena enjoys travelling, languages, meeting new people and playing tennis.
Originally from India, Suman moved to Australia in 2005 and since then has worked in customer service and administration. Suman has completed her Bachelor Degree in Arts majoring in English Literature, Sociology and Public Administration. She has been working in the education industry for the last 7 years and believes in providing the best experience possible to all Interns.
Originally from France, Camille currently works in Australia in order to complete her Master in Business Management and her Master of Science in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. She already has experience in the fields of project & event management as well as marketing & business development. She is now happy to work as human resources officer within Australian Internships in order to widen her skills and her understanding of a successful company. Having the chance to travel regularly and still being a student, she understands the young professionals’ expectations while working abroad. After her graduation, Camille plans to work abroad herself because she loves living in different cultures and discovering the world. She has a passion for skiing and mountain sports that she is very keen to share.
Nimisha moved to Australia after finishing her bachelor studies in India and pursued a Masters in Professional Accounting at Griffith University. After having worked in the accounting field for more than 7 years, she has acquired very strong understanding of managing finance, liaising with clients and stakeholders, resolving issues and achieving certain objectives on time and with excellence. She comes from the hospitality and education industry and have lots of experience working with international students. She believes that her accounting/finance background and organizational skills, her ability work with wide range of professionals have always been an invaluable resource and vital factor to contribute Australian Internships success.
Arielle has recently joined Australian Internships after moving to Brisbane in 2015. She enjoys learning about other cultures and countries and looks forward to travelling the world. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Business in Logistics and Supply Chain management as well as a diploma in Business Administration. Having worked in retail since 2012, she is looking forward to helping clients have a positive experience.
