Pacific Internship Project - Internships in Fiji

Australian Internships has partnered with the University of the South Pacific (USP) and a number of companies in the private and public sector to offer structured non-paid training for students and graduates.

The Internship Program aims to lift knowledge in Australia of the Indo-Pacific by supporting students and graduates to undertake internships in Fiji. Aside from the cultural component, an internship in Fiji is a great way to gain exposure to the professional work environment and develop professional workplace skills.

The program offers candidates an opportunity to gain professional work experience and improve career opportunities in different academic fields in a wide range of industries.*

PROGRAM DETAILS:

• Tailored training related to your skills and academic background

• 6 – 26 weeks, full-time, non-paid training positions

• Access to a number of companies Fiji wide

• A “buddy system” for candidates completing their internship in Fiji

• Start every Monday (pending lead time)

• Visa/Permit Sponsorship – pending eligibility

• Flexibility with location is required in some fields

• Academic credit available if required

• Fields*: Business Administration, Education, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Construction), Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Mining and more…

* Certain fields may require an extra lead time and/or additional requirements such as portfolios.

PART-TIME INTERNSHIPS:

ELIGIBILITY*

- Aged 18-30

- The internship field requested is directly related to your educational background

- Currently enrolled in a tertiary course (bachelor degree or above), or

- A recent graduate within 12 months of course completion (bachelor degree or above)

- Upper intermediate-advanced English language skills (equivalent to IELTS 5.5)

- All passport holders are welcome to apply**

START DATES and lead time

Interns have the flexibility of choosing their preferred start dates (allow for 3-4 month lead time).

APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Enquiry and Assessment:
    Complete the online form and submit initial documentation to find out whether you are eligible for the program.

  2. Application & Processing:
    Eligible candidates will be requested to complete and return the application form along with the supporting documents and application fee. You will then provide us an application video after which Australian Internships will negotiate your internship details.

  3. Confirmation & Payment
    Australian Internships and the University of the South Pacific will arrange an interview for you with the Host Organisation after which the internship will be confirmed through a formal Training Agreement. Any outstanding fees to be paid.

  4. Visa & Travel Arrangements
    The University of the South Pacific will be assisting with your visa/permit lodgement.

  5. Program Participation
    Congratulations! You are about to embark on an incredible journey. You will have an orientation and a “buddy” when you arrive in Fiji. Once you begin your internship we will be asking for your continued feedback and continue to provide you with support.

Scholarship and Government Funding**

 

Note, some students may be eligible to apply for scholarships or government funding to help cover the cost of internships. The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship Program provides opportunities for Australian undergraduate students to undertake semester-based study or internships in the participating Indo-Pacific locations.
