Why did you choose to complete an Internship?

To meet the requirement for graduation - 3 months of work experience in the engineering field. Additionally, to gain experience in the field of engineering as fast as possible.

What have you learned the most during your internship?

Definitely a lot in terms of the technical and business side of engineering. Quotation process, the overall process from client meetings to receiving payment. Attitude toward making mistakes, learning, everyone is very supportive of your attitude to learn. Being attentive. Adapting to company culture;

What benefits do you feel AI contributed to your internship and time in Australia?

The weekly assignments had been very helpful to review what I have learnt. There was a lot of new information and processes in a new environment that I really felt the need to organize my thoughts and learnings. The internship review had done that. By writing them every week, it made clear not only all the small to bigger tasks I had to do over the week but also what I have learnt through them. Often times, the bigger tasks take over and I forgot about the smaller tasks and learning from them.

What advice would you give future interns?

Prove before demand. You're not going to get paid during the internship, but to be hired you have to convince the company that you are capable of generating asset/merits equivalent or higher than the salary that you would like. The most practical way is to demonstrate your ability to learn, and your ability to suit well into the company culture.

We pay a lot more in a semester to learn at university; working will likely teach you more so than what you would learn at school. It may not necessarily be all theoretical, but social soft skills and everything.

What do you enjoy most about Australia?

Not sure about Australia in particular, I've lived in New Zealand and Australia for too long to compare.
