The Working Holiday Internship Program offers candidates an opportunity to gain professional work experience and improve career opportunities in Marketing, Events, HR, Administration (Business Support) and Hospitality (Housekeeping and Food & Beverage) fields and a wide range of industries. It is aimed at candidates seeking work experience / internship positions in Australia. An internship is a great way to gain exposure into the professional work environment and develop professional workplace skills. All placements available in all major cities of Australia and will give candidates entry to Australia’s leading organisations.

This program is available to candidates eligible for the Working Holiday Visa (417) and the Work and Holiday Visa (462) [Only for Spain, Portugal and USA].

PROGRAM DETAILS

Professional Working Holiday Program

The Professional Working Holiday Internship Program (WHIP Professional) is an opportunity for working holiday makers with relevant educational background in Marketing, Events, HR, Administration (Business Support) to participate in an unpaid work and holiday experience aimed at developing their practical skills in their field of study. This internship is not focused on professional development; it is for basic skills development and industry exposure.

  • Unpaid training position
  • 12 to 26 weeks internship
  • Fields: Human Resources, Marketing, Events, Administration (Business Support)
  • Positions are available Australia wide (flexibility required).
  • Academic credit available.
  • Apply up to 3 months in advance.

 

Hospitality Working Holiday Internship Program*:

The Hospitality Working Holiday Internship Program (WHIP Hospitality) is an opportunity for working holiday makers with relevant educational background in hospitality or hotel management to participate in a paid work and holiday experience aimed at developing their practical skills in basic hotel operational departments including housekeeping and food & beverage service.

  • Paid training positions – Minimum of AU$16-AU$20 per hour.
  • 26 weeks internship.
  • Fields: Housekeeping and Food & Beverage.
  • Positions are available Australia wide (flexibility required).
  • Academic credit available.
  • Apply up to 4 months in advance.

*RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL (RSA):

All interns who opt for the Hospitality Working Holiday Internship Program must present a copy of their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or complete the online RSA course, prior to commencing their internship in Australia. For additional information on the RSA please refer to the “Services” section of the website.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  •  Age 18 to 30
  • Undertake the internship on the Working Holiday Visa 417 or 462 (USA, Spain and Portugal only)
  • Upper Intermediate to advanced English level (IELTS 6.0)
  • Internship field directly related to educational background
  • Work experience: 4 to 6 months for F&B department (Preferred)

 

HOST ORGANISATIONS

Following a comprehensive interview process, you will be allocated to one of 5,000 host companies throughout Australia. Selections are made in all cases based on best available fit between the host company and your skill-set or academic background. 

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

Enquiry and Assessment: 

Complete the online form and find out whether you are eligible for the program. Eligible candidates will be sent an application form.

Application & Processing: 

Complete and return the application form along with the supporting documentation and the AU$500 application fee. You will then provide us an application video (We reserve the right to decline any applicant who is found to have falsified or exaggerated information provided to us, such as low English level, exaggerated work experience, false documents etc).

Confirmation & Payment: 

Australian Internships will arrange an interview for you with the Host Organisation after which the internship will be confirmed through a formal Training Agreement. Any outstanding fees to be paid.

Visa & Travel Arrangements: 

You will be responsible to organise your own visa (Working Holiday Visa 417 or Work and Holiday Visa 462) and your travel arrangements. You are to confirm with Australian Internships your arrival details.

Interns have the flexibility of choosing their preferred start dates (allow for 3-4 month lead time)

LEAD TIME

  • 3 months for the WHIP Professional
  • 4 months for the WHIP Hospitality
