Welcome to the Australian Internships Newsletter, where each month we will update you on the latest industry trends, provide tips for hosting interns and keep you up-to-date with Australian Internships news!
Set quantifiable weekly goals for the intern
This is extra important for interns. Interns need to have clear project goals and you need regular benchmarks to see how they are performing in order to help them improve.
Break projects into small tasks, and review drafts early
Don’t assign an intern project due in a month. Interns are new to the professional world, so by having them submit drafts lets you point them in new directions, before going down a wrong road.
Share the big picture of how the company is doing and how they are contributing
Interns are curious about the industry they are working in and want to know how the company is doing. By sharing some insight on the bigger picture and how their projects fit in they can bridge this knowledge gap and will be more motivated to deliver great results.
The Healthful Hub is an Australian company that has created its own tea and superfood brands with the help of nutritionists and a specialised physician. The Healthful Hub’s teas and superfood powder can assist with weight loss, boost the immune system, aid mental clarity and build energy levels. The Healthful Hub farms organically, which is very important for any leafy or exposed fruit or vegetable as it has no skin to protect it from harmful chemicals and pesticides.
What is the best thing about having international interns at your organisation?
Having a fresh perspective in the office! Our international Interns always bring with them fresh ideas and different approaches to doing things. I love to hear what they think and how they would tackle a problem or a project we have coming up. I totally believe in exploring options with new strategies. A lot of the times my Interns haven just finished learning the latest techniques in marketing and communication and are up-to-date with what’s happening in the world, especially on social media platforms, so I let them teach me as well.
Do you have any funny stories about an intern you’ve hosted, or an exceptional intern that you’d like to tell us about?
All of my Interns from Australian Internships have been remarkable. I have enjoyed having them as part of my team and in fact one has asked to come back :)
I have to say, each one has been unique in their own special way and adapted to The Healthful Hub life easy…. The most common thing that my Interns say to me is “I’m eating foods I have never tried before”.
What do you like about having Australian Internships providing and supporting your interns?
I like that Australian Internships hand pick and my Interns and carefully match them to my criteria and needs. I have and will continue to recommend this organisation to other suitable businesses.

Australia’s ageing workforce is in dire need of Aged Care and Nursing professionals with 77,976 Aged Care workers needed in the next 10 years. According to Mccrindle’s “The Aged Care Puzzle” half of the aged care workforce will be retiring in the next 15 years. It is estimated that Australia should be hiring 650 new workers per month in order to replace the retiring aged care workforce. Health Workforce Australia (HWA) estimates are even higher predicting a shortfall of over 100,000 nurses by 2025.
Aged care is the fastest growing sector within the healthcare industry. Australian Internships is proud to announce that we have launched a new internship program to fill the increasing demand in this industry! Our Aged Care Assistant, Nursing Assistant and Personal Care Attendant interns will be recent graduates of the highest quality and available for 6-12 month paid training programs Australia-wide. As with our current programs, all interns will be on a visa with full working rights or sponsored by Australian Internships for the duration of the program.
