Why did you decide to do your internship in Australia?
I have read to a Greek website about the program from The Hellenic Initiative and Australian Internships. I got very excited when I realised that the prerequisite to participate to this program is to be in the shortlist of the ReGeneration program; an innovative Greek program which strives for the elimination of Youth unemployment in Greece. I have expressed my will to have an internship in Australia and I got accepted from a Construction company!
What made this experience unique and special?
It’s a very special job for me, because not only is it my first work experience, but also it is in an English speaking country and in a very beautiful city – Melbourne. What makes this internship more unique is that it gives me the chance to have an international experience with and develop my lateral thinking.
How has this experience impacted your future? (Personally, professionally, academically, etc.)
This experience has changed the way that I think and act. I feel more self – confident and mature. Every day, I have to speak and collaborate with people from different cultures, so I have developed my skills needed to understand people’s needs and how to negotiate better with the stakeholders of the project that I have worked for.
What was the highlight of your experience?
The highlight of this experience is that I live in Melbourne, a very beautiful city that I have never imagined that I would live there. I have travelled “down under”, I’ve met many people from all over the world and I have been to many unique places with lots of green and magical beaches.
Role: Admissions Officer
I joined Australian Internships 3 months ago and I am very excited to be a part of this company. I am very lucky to be working with the most amazing team at Australian Internships who genuinely believe in team work and success of the company. Originally from India, I came to Australia in 2005 and since then have fallen in love with this country.
I have been working in the education industry for the last seven years and have always enjoyed helping students or recent graduates with their enquiries and concerns. It is a great feeling to see the happy faces when the interns get closer to achieving their career goals through an internship opportunity we provide them.
Apart from being a part of Australian Internships I also host my own Radio show at an Indian Radio station. It keeps me connected to my community and I also get an opportunity to meet lot of famous people who are an inspiration to others.
I truly believe in dreaming …. If you can dream it then you can do it!!!
