Why did you decide to do your internship in Australia?
I studied in Melbourne a while ago and I completely fell in love with Australia. I wanted to come back to work on my professional growth this time and an internship seemed like the perfect way to do so.

What made this experience unique and special? The fact that my supervisor is always finding the time to make sure I am learning and progressing.

How has this experience impacted your future?
I feel more comfortable in the work environment and I've learned how to apply what I studied in the real world.

What was the highlight of your experience?
Working at the first Inside Retail Live - Festival of Retail Ideas. It was amazing being part of an event, first of its kind, with such impact in the retail industry. I got to work behind the scenes and network with incredible industry leaders throughout the 3 day event.

What advice would you offer someone considering interning abroad in Australia?
I would very much recommend this opportunity not only for the professional growth part of it but also living abroad helps you become more independent and open to get out of your comfort zone.

Caroline has worked for Australian internships for 4 years this month.  Caroline has truly done it all- from operating rides at a theme park to retail management to working for the New Zealand government. She loves the outdoors, keeping physically fit and most importantly travel. Throughout her time at home and overseas, Caroline has gained invaluable knowledge and experiences that have changed her life forever. She whole-heartedly believes in travel and extends her passion and enthusiasm to all of the interns she supports.

How would you describe your work?
There are many aspects involved in the role of Internship Program Supervisor and the role varies a lot.  I assist interns throughout the whole internship process ensuring they have a successful and rewarding experience.

What do you like the most about your work?Getting to call the intern to advise they have been successful in their interview or that they have received their visa approval and hearing the pure excitement in their voice and knowing that I was a apart of that.

Your message to the interns
Go in with an open mind and don’t compare the experience to anything else. It is new and it is yours!

Thank you for reading! We’d love to hear what you want to read in this newsletter, so feel free to give us some suggestions on what to include next time!
